Elite Ecole students are expected to attend all classes, rehearsals, and seminars.
INFORMATION FOR PARENTS:
PHOTOS:
All dancers will be required to send: 3 “regular” camera photos / 4x6 inch size, please
1. Head shot – as you look out of class (school photo is great)
2. Head shot – as you look for dance class (with hair up)
3. Dance shot –full body, in black leotard and pink tights / 1st arabesque
(On pointe for women, releve for men)
This will assist the chaperones to become familiar with residents prior to their arrival.
Deadline for all photos and packet paperwork: May 15, 2008
CHECK-IN:
Check-in will be held in the lobby of Dougherty Hall. Students may check into the dorm from 9:00-10:00am on Wednesday, July 16, 2008. . Room assignments, keys, and student information packets will be issued at check-in.
All students must check-in and receive orientation information. The Intensive officially begins Wednesday at 11:00am
with student orientation and lunch. Classes will begin at 1:00pm.
FLIGHT ARRIVALS: (for students flying into San Antonio)
After deplaning, go directly to the baggage claim area. An Elite Ecole TX representative (with an Elite Ecole TX sign) will be in the baggage claim area to direct you to the shuttle van or taxi station. REMINDER: Please pack bags that YOU can carry. Limit your bags in size and number.
Cost for the shuttle or taxi will be $15.00-$20.00 per student, in cash, paid to the driver. All students (flying or driving) are requested to bring a minimum of extra "stuff". Deadline for all flight information: May 15, 2008.
NOTE: Should travel plans dictate, students may arrive on Tuesday, July 15. Call for additional details.
MAILING OF BEDDING:
If you will be mailing bedding, pillow, and towels: The campus post office is not open on Saturday or Sunday to receive mail or package delivery, so please mail articles with time! We suggest that you send all packages so they are scheduled to arrive by July 10-11. This will insure their arrival for check-in on Wednesday, July 16. Students will run the risk of being without their bedding, etc. if mailed late. Elite Ecole TX staff will collect all received packages on Tuesday, July 15. Packages and boxes may be picked up in the dorm during check-in. We suggest that students retain their boxes so that they can re-pack them to move out on Saturday, July 26, or check the box as baggage on their return flight.
The Elite Ecole TX cannot be responsible for articles that students leave behind.
Other conferences will follow us. Please limit your articles to ONE box of a manageable size.
MONEY MATTERS:
We encourage parents to send students with traveler's checks in small increments so that cash is available only as needed. Students will be able to use these checks when making purchases on or off campus.
Suggested amount: $50.00 - 75.00 for the 10 days. (This is for incidentals, not including dance shoes or dance supplies.) Students should have a government - issue, picture ID. They will need it to travel, and to cash traveler’s checks.
NO personal checks. NO two-party checks. NO lending of cash.
PAYMENT REMINDER: All tuition, room and board and activities fee payments are due by : May 15, 2008.
TELEPHONE:
Each dorm room has an assigned telephone number. Instruments are provided in the rooms. All local calls are free. Long distance calls can be made only with a credit card, calling card, or collect.
On the subject of phones/cell phones: please note the following: The use of cell phones is NOT allowed
during any class, seminar, or rehearsal. Cell phones must be turned OFF during those times.
St.MU and The Elite Ecole TX cannot be responsible for the loss or theft of any cell phone brought onto the campus during The Intensive. St.MU and The Elite Ecole TX are not responsible for any unauthorized calls made on any cell phone brought to The Intensive.
DORMITORY ASSIGNMENT:
All dancers will be assigned a room and roommates if not requested. REMINDER: Both parties must request roommate choice for assignment. Rooms will accommodate 2 students per room, in a double suite sharing a bath. Women and Men will live in Dougherty Hall. There will be full-time chaperones in the dormitory throughout The Intensive.
All dorm rooms are furnished with a desk, chair, mattress and pad, carpet, closet and drawer space for each resident, window with blinds, and basic TV cable service. (televisions are not furnished) The main living area of the dorm has a large screen TV for the use of all residents. Each room has a sink in the adjoining bathroom, and they share a shower and toilet. Dorms are fully air conditioned. There are microwaves in common areas on each floor. The University does not provide or rent refrigerators. Any food kept in rooms should be in zip-lock bags in order not to attract bugs.
SUGGESTED DORM ROOM NEEDS:
Extra long twin bed sheets, pillow, blanket or comforter, towels and wash cloths, alarm clock or clock radio, extension cord or power strip, cleaning supplies and toilet paper, laundry detergent, fabric softener
NOT ALLOWED: Any electrical cooking appliances, potpourri burners, candles, incense burners, halogen lamps, due to fire hazard. You are not allowed to use nails or screws to attach anything to the walls or ceilings. Please do not tape or paste anything on the walls or ceilings. It will remove the paint, and you will be charged for damages at check-out.
Students will clean their own rooms and bathrooms. Lysol products are recommended. Chaperones will help students purchase these items at nearby stores if needed. All four roommates can share these costs.
REST AND RELAXATION:
Week-end activities planned for the one day trip to Fiesta Texas. All activities are scheduled with meal service hours in mind. Pack cool and comfortable clothes, good walking shoes, bathing suits, and sunscreen! See details included in the packet.
MEALS:
Cafeteria hours for three daily meals are posted on each floor of the dormitories, and in the food service facility. Meals have been planned with The Elite Ecole TX schedule in mind. The food service makes an effort to meet all dietary needs.
If you have any particular and/or unique dietary requirements, it would be helpful to send us some written information or background material so that we can dialogue with the director of the University Food Service prior to the start of The Elite Ecole TX. We can also put you directly in touch with the Food Service managers, if preferred.
MAIL:
All students can check for mail daily at the University campus mailroom. Hours of operation are 8am-5pm Monday-Friday. Students will be responsible for picking up their own mail and packages. Please no not send cash in the mail. The Elite Ecole TX and St. Mary’s University are not responsible for loss of cash sent through the mail.
Reminder: There is no mail or package delivery on Saturday or Sunday.

CHURCH SERVICES:
A list of Sunday services of various faiths will be posted on the resident floors of Dougherty Hall. Catholic services are available on the campus of St. Mary’s University. Ask your floor chaperone for further details.
REFUNDS AND CONDUCT:
Students attending The Elite Ecole TX at St. Mary’s University are expected to maintain the highest standards of conduct. Students found in violation of The Elite Ecole TX standards are sent home. See Behavior Contract, Rules and Regulations.
Once The Intensive has begun, fees paid for tuition, room, and board are non-refundable. If a student is sent home for reasons of unacceptable conduct, there is no refund of any kind. Due to the costs of contracting room and board for students, there are no exceptions to this policy regardless of the reason for withdrawal.
DORMITORY CHECK-OUT:
Students may check out following the Open House / In-Formance and reception on Saturday, July 26. (around 1:00pm) Shuttle service will be arranged for those needing transportation to the airport. Instructions concerning departure procedures and shuttle times will be covered again in dorm meetings toward the end of the Intensive .
Lost key ?? There will be a $45.00 replacement fee charge! Replacement charge must be paid upon checkout.
FINAL OPEN HOUSE / IN-FORMANCE:
All Elite Ecole TX students will participate in a student Open House / In-Formance that will be open to the public.
It will take place on:
Saturday, July 26 at 10:00am
in Our Lady’s Chapel on the campus of St. Mary’s University. Tickets are $15.00 per person, general admission, and will be available at check-in, in the dormitory office. They will also be available at the door on the day of the In-Formance. The chapel will be open at 9:30am, prior to the In-Formance.
A reception for faculty, dancers, and parents will follow the July 26 In-Formance to conclude The 2008 Elite Ecole TX. This is a festive way for all to celebrate 10 days of productive work, and to socialize with some Elite Ecole TX hospitality!

A final note to parents and friends who will attend the July 26 Open House / In-Formance:
The final day of The Elite EcoleTX will be a very busy one. Preparations for the Open House / In-Formance will have been intense. Dancers will have had full days of classes and rehearsals all session. On Saturday, July 26, they will need to be especially focused. Students must be available for all final notes or special instructions given by the faculty. Classes and rehearsals are closed to parents and to the public throughout the intensive. We ask that you arrange your arrival time accordingly, and visit with your child following the In-Formance.
Included with this packet is a list of hotels to assist those of you who will join us in San Antonio for the Open House /
In-Formance on July 26. The list includes both hotels located close to the airport, and those situated downtown on the historic San Antonio River Walk. The Elite Ecole staff and faculty look forward to visiting with you at the reception following the Open House / In-Formance on Saturday, July 26.
We have enclosed some campus information to help students become familiar with the University prior to their arrival. For those who may be driving students into San Antonio for check-in on Wednesday, July 16. Signs will be posted on campus to direct you to dormitories and check-in.
We hope that we have answered all questions for parents and students so that The Elite Ecole TX experience will be an enjoyable and fulfilling one. We anticipate an exceptional 4th Annual Open House / In-Formance this year.
