Richard Abrahamson

Richard Abrahamson joined the music faculty of the Joffrey Workshop Texas in 1987. He currently serves as music director for the dance division of the Meadows School of the Arts, Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. Active as a dance musician since 1976, Mr. Abrahamson has accompanied classes taught by masters such as Robert Joffrey, Erik Bruhn, Maria Tallchief, Bertram Ross, Ethel Winter, Yuriko, and Laura Dean. The New Works Project and the Sierra Winds premiered his ballet, Passages, in Las Vegas in 1998. Active as a musical director for the theatre, Richard has created projects with Edmond Kresley and Ann Reinking. Abrahamson studied piano, harpsichord, and organ at the Oberlin College Conservatory of Music, Texas Christian University, and the Julliard School, and is a member of the International Guild of Musicians in Dance.
