THE ELITE ECOLE TX

and

St. Mary’s University

STUDENT BEHAVIOR CONTRACT

It is an honor and a privilege to attend The Elite Ecole TX. With privilege comes responsibility. It is your responsibility to make the experience not only a positive one for yourself, but also for all of those people with whom you work and play.

We want the atmosphere of The Elite Ecole TX to be one of trust and confidence. We want all Intensive students, staff, administrators, and faculty members to become, in a very special 10 day period, a close family of friends and artists. Each will display a mutual support for one another with genuine respect for feelings, attitudes, thoughts, differences, and similarities.

The Elite EcoleTX not only offers you a chance to grow artistically and intellectually, but it also offers you an opportunity to form new friendships. At The Elite EcoleTX you can encounter new, challenging ideas and at the same time strengthen your own individual beliefs and sense of self.

As a student of The Elite EcoleTX (commuter or residential), and thus part of the St. Mary’s University community, you are expected to demonstrate high standards of personal behavior both on and off campus. You are expected to accept personal responsibility for your conduct and any consequences for mistakes, accidental or intentional. You are expected to maintain honesty, truthfulness, fairness, and civil, courteous concern for and behavior toward others both in and outside of the classroom.

To accomplish a community of trust and a "family" in 10 short days, we count on each person contributing his or her best effort towards this goal. We want The Elite EcoleTX students to exude a positive nature and to earn the reputation as the most courteous and well-mannered group on campus. We ask each student:

•To demonstrate respect for and friendliness toward every person you meet. This includes all Elite Ecole TX teachers and staff members; a fellow Intensive student; any students attending other programs on campus; a university student crossing campus; university faculty, staff, and employees; any adult on campus attending classes or seminars.

•To demonstrate a very high regard for all property and the entire campus environment. We expect no littering, vandalism, graffiti, or misuse of grounds or property. Residence Halls, the dining room, classrooms, grounds, and other facilities and equipment should be used respectfully and kept clean at all times. You will be held responsible, and must pay for any damage caused by your misconduct. An assessment of the condition of your personal room and common areas will be made before you arrive and before you depart. Assessments for damages may be made to an individual, or to individuals if determined responsible, or to the group. Inappropriate behavior or violation of rules will be reported to The Elite Ecole TX Directors. The Directors will maintain the right to dismiss a student from the residence hall and/or the program on the basis of inappropriate behavior.

•To behave like a guest on campus. Please remember that other adult conferences, regular university classes, and other youth groups may share the campus with us. You would not want guests in your own home to behave rudely or without respect for your personal rights, furniture, or other belongings. The same holds true for our host for The Elite Ecole TX. We ask that you respect the rights of other people and St. Mary’s University.
