Please Note: Schedule is subject to change and/or revision as necessary. Joffrey Workshop TX students are expected to attend all classes, rehearsals, and seminars.
INFORMATION FOR PARENTS: PHOTOS: All dancers will be required to send: 3 “regular” camera photos / 4x6 inch size, please 1. Head shot – as you look out of class (school photo is great) 2. Head shot – as you look for dance class (with hair up) 3. Dance shot –full body, in black leotard and pink tights / 1st arabesque (On pointe for women, releve for men) This will assist the chaperones to become familiar with residents prior to their arrival. Deadline for all photos and packet paperwork: May 15, 2010
CHECK-IN: Students may check into Treadaway Hall at any time between the hours of 11:00pm - 4:00pm on Saturday, June 26, 2010. Check-in will be on the 3rd floor of Treadaway Hall. All students must check-in with St. Mary’s University housing personnel. Room assignments, keys, and additional student information and welcome bags will be issued to all Workshop students at check-in. The Workshop officially begins Saturday evening at 6:00pm, June 27 with student orientation and dinner.
FLIGHT ARRIVALS: (for students flying into San Antonio) After deplaning, go directly to the baggage claim area. A Joffrey Workshop TX representative (with a Joffrey Workshop TX sign) will be in the baggage claim area to direct you to the shuttle van or taxi station. They will have all flight information, and check on changes. REMINDER: Please pack bags that YOU can carry. Limit your bags in size and number.
NOTE: Students needing to arrive on Friday, June 25 due to travel plans may do so. Please call for details. Extra room charge applies. AIRPORT TRANSPORTATION COSTS: Cost for the shuttle will be $20.00 per student, in cash, paid to the driver. All students (flying or driving) are requested to bring a minimum of extra "stuff". Deadline for all flight information: June 15, 2010. MAILING OF BEDDING: If you will be mailing bedding, pillow, and towels: Please use UPS service. The campus post office is not open on Saturday or Sunday to receive mail or package delivery, so please mail articles with time! We suggest that you send all packages so they are scheduled to arrive by June 16-23. This will insure their arrival for check-in on Saturday, June 26. Students will run the risk of being without their bedding, etc. if mailed late. The Joffrey Workshop TX staff will collect all received packages on Thursday and Friday, June 24 and 25. Packages and boxes may be picked up in the dorm during check-in. We suggest that students retain their boxes so that they can check the box as baggage on their return flight. The Joffrey Workshop TX cannot be responsible for articles that students leave behind. Other conferences will follow us. Please limit your mailed articles to ONE box of a manageable size that you can carry.
MONEY MATTERS: We encourage parents to send students with traveler's checks in small increments, or Visa money cards so that cash is available only as needed,. Students will be able to use these checks when making purchases on or off campus. Suggested amount: $25.00 - 30.00 per week. (This is for incidentals, not including dance shoes or dance supplies.) Students should also have a government - approved picture ID. They will need it to travel, and to cash traveler’s checks. NO personal checks. NO two-party checks. NO lending of cash.

TELEPHONE: Each dorm room has an assigned telephone number. Instruments are provided in the rooms. All local calls are free. Long distance calls can be made only with a credit card, calling card, or collect.
DORMITORY ASSIGNMENT: All rooms in Treadaway Hall are single rooms. Roommate choices will be placed next door or across from one another. Suite mate choices will be placed directly across from their choices. All dancers will live in Treadaway Hall. There will be full-time chaperones in the dormitory throughout The Workshop. All dorm rooms are furnished with a desk, chair, bed with mattress and pad, carpet, closet and drawer space for each resident, window with blinds, and basic TV cable service. (televisions not provided) A large screen TV is on the 4th floor for co-ed use by all students. There are microwaves in common areas on each floor. Each room has a sink in the room. Showers and toilets are located at both ends of each floor. Community bathrooms will be cleaned daily by University housekeeping staff. Dorms are fully air conditioned. The University does not provide or rent refrigerators. Any food kept in rooms should be in zip-lock bags in order not to attract bugs.
Twin sheets (extra-long), pillow, blanket or comforter, towels and wash cloths, alarm clock or clock radio, extension cord, power strip, laundry detergent and fabric softener. Students will clean their own rooms. Please note that all rooms are singles and are small, so minimize the amount of “stuff” that you bring with you! NOT ALLOWED IN DORM ROOMS: Any electrical cooking appliances, potpourri burners, candles, incense burners, halogen lamps, due to fire hazard. You are not allowed to use nails or screws to attachanything to the walls or ceilings. Please do not tape or paste anything on the walls or ceilings. It will remove the paint, and you will be charged for damages at check-out. Please read through these rules carefully!
REST AND RELAXATION: Week-end activities are planned to include Fiesta Texas or Sea World, and the Historic San Antonio RiverWalk area. All activities are scheduled with meal service hours in mind. Pack cool and comfortable clothes, good walking shoes (NOT flip-flops!), bathing suits, and sunscreen! See details about extra-curricular trips and costs included in this packet.
MEALS: Cafeteria hours for three daily meals are posted on each floor of the dormitories, and in the food service facility. Meals have been planned with The Joffrey Workshop TX schedule in mind. The food service makes an effort to meet all dietary needs. If you have any particular and/or unique dietary requirements, it would be helpful to send us some written information or any background material needed so that we can dialogue with the director of the University Food Service prior to the start of Workshop. We can also put you directly in touch with the Food Service managers, if preferred.
MAIL: All students can check for mail daily in the Joffrey Workshop office in the evening following rehearsals. Students will be responsible for picking up their own mail and packages. Times and place will be discussed in dorm meetings. Please do not send cash in the mail. The Joffrey Workshop TX and St. Mary’s University are not responsible for loss of cash sent through the mail. Reminder: There is no mail or package delivery on Saturday or Sunday.

CHURCH SERVICES: A list of Sunday services of various faiths will be posted on the resident floors. See your floor chaperone for further details.
REFUNDS AND CONDUCT: Students attending The Joffrey Workshop TX at St. Mary’s University are expected to maintain the highest standards of conduct. Students found in violation of Joffrey Workshop standards are sent home. See Behavior Contract, Rules and Regulations. Once The Workshop has begun, fees paid for tuition, room, and board are non-refundable. If a student is sent home for reasons of unacceptable conduct, there is no refund of any kind. Due to the costs of contracting room and board for students, there are no exceptions to this policy regardless of the reason for withdrawal.
DORMITORY CHECK-OUT: Students will check out following the performance and reception on Saturday, July 17. All students must check out by 6:00 pm on Saturday, July 17. For students with flights out on Sunday, July 18, an extra night can be arranged. Cost: $25.00 per night. Shuttle service will be arranged for those needing transportation to the airport. Instructions concerning departure procedures and shuttle times willbe covered again in dorm meetings during the last week of The Workshop. Lost key ?? There will be a $45.00 replacement fee charge! Replacement charge must be paid upon checkout. FINAL PERFORMANCE: All Joffrey Workshop TX students will participate in 2 performances (the same program) of a public concert on:
Saturday, July 17, 2010 at 11:00am and at 2:00pm In the Guadalupe Chapel on St. Mary’s University campus
Tickets are $20.00 per person, general admission, and will be available at check-in, in The Joffrey Workshop TX office. They will also be available at the door on the day of the performance. The box office will be open one hour prior to the performance.
A reception for faculty, dancers, and parents will follow the July 17 performance to conclude The 2010 Joffrey Workshop TX. This is a festive way for all to celebrate three weeks of productive work, and to socialize with some Joffrey Workshop TX hospitality!

A final note to parents and friends who will attend the July 17 performance:
The third week of The Joffrey Workshop TX will be a very busy one. Preparations for the concert will be intense. Dancers will have full days of classes and rehearsals all week. On Saturday, July 17, they will need to be especially focused. Students must be available for all classes, and all rehearsals, notes or special instructions given by the faculty. Classes and rehearsals are closed to parents and to the public throughout The Workshop. We ask that you arrange your arrival time accordingly, and visit with your child following the performance.
The list includes both hotels located close to the airport, and those situated downtown on the historic San Antonio River Walk. The Workshop staff and faculty look forward to visiting with you at the reception following the concert on Saturday, July 17.
We hope that we have answered all questions for parents and students so that The Joffrey Workshop TX experience will bean enjoyable and fulfilling one. We anticipate an exceptional 32nd Annual celebration concert this year!
