We want the atmosphere of The Joffrey Workshop TX to be one of trust and confidence. We want workshop students, staff, administrators, and faculty members to become, in a very special threeweek period, a close family of friends and artists. Each will display a mutual support for one another with genuine respect for feelings, attitudes, thoughts, differences, and similarities. The Joffrey Workshop TX not only offers you a chance to grow artistically and intellectually, but it also offers you an opportunity to form new friendships. At The Joffrey Workshop TX you can encounter new, challenging ideas and at the same time strengthen your own individual beliefs and sense of self. As a student of The Joffrey Workshop TX (commuter or residential), and thus part of the St. MaryÕs University community, you are expected to demonstrate high standards of personal behavior both on and off campus. You are expected to accept personal responsibility for your conduct and any consequences for mistakes, accidental or intentional. You are expected to maintain honesty, truthfulness, fairness, and civil, courteous concern for and behavior toward others both in and outside of the classroom. To accomplish a community of trust and a "family" in three short weeks, we count on each person contributing his or her best effort towards this goal. We want The Joffrey Workshop TX students to exude a positive nature and to earn the reputation as the most courteous and well-mannered group on campus. We ask each student: *To demonstrate respect for and friendliness toward every person you meet. This includes all Joffrey Workshop TX teachers and staff members; a fellow Workshop student; any students attending other programs on campus; a university student crossing campus; university faculty, staff, and employees; any adult on campus attending classes or seminars. *To demonstrate a very high regard for all property and the entire campus environment. We expect no littering, vandalism, graffiti, or misuse of grounds or property. Residence Halls, the dining room, classrooms, grounds, and other facilities and equipment should be used respectfully and kept clean at all times. You will be held responsible, and must pay for any damage caused by your misconduct. An assessment of the condition of your personal room and common areas will be made before you arrive and before you depart. Assessments for damages may be made to an individual, or to individuals if determined responsible, or to the group. Inappropriate behavior or violation of rules will be reported to The Joffrey Workshop TX Director. The Director will maintain the right to dismiss a student from the residence hall and/or the program on the basis of inappropriate behavior. *To behave like a guest on campus. Please remember that other adult conferences, regular university classes, and other youth groups may share the campus with us. You would not want guests in your own home to behave rudely or without respect for your personal rights, furniture, or other belongings. The same holds true for our host for The Joffrey Workshop TX. We ask that you respect the rights of other people and St. MaryÕs University. In addition: Students must follow guidelines presented at orientation by The Joffrey Workshop TX Directors, administrators, and staff. Students will observe all rules deemed necessary at any time during the program. Students will respect and follow any directions given by faculty members, all supervisors or chaperones, and St. Mary's University Resident Assistants Students are expected to respond to requests made by staff members such as verification of identification, requests for meetings, etc. Students will practice good common sense, respect, and consideration for others and their property on a daily basis. The use of profanity or cursing is not permitted. Such behavior can result in dismissal. Tampering with fire equipment or causing damage to St. Mary's University property may result in immediate dismissal from the residence hall and/or The Joffrey Workshop TX program. St. Mary's University is a "smoke free" campus. The use of tobacco products (smoking or otherwise) at any time is prohibited. The use or possession of alcoholic beverages and/or illegal drugs is strictly prohibited, and will result in immediate dismissal from the program. Gambling is prohibited. Please be advised: Students agree to abide by the rules, regulations and standards of St. Mary's University now in effect, and as may be issued from time to time, including the policy that prohibits firearms, weapons, explosives, or any device that could be misrepresented as a firearm or explosive device. All students are expected to comply fully with the terms and conditions of occupancy as stated in this document. Residents are responsible, both individually and collectively, for all damage to and defacement of St. MaryÕs University dormitory rooms/suites and furnishings, and for any damage to the public areas of the building and equipment. In the event damage is assessed, student will receive an itemized bill of damage charges to be paid by the student, and/or the parent/legal guardian. Any student leaving the Residence Hall without following the correct checkout procedure will be assessed a $25.00 improper checkout fee. IT IS MANDATORY FOR ALL RESIDENT STUDENTS TO SHOW PROOF OF COVERAGE BY HEALTH INSURANCE. St. Mary's University and The Joffrey Workshop TX, without exception, support the laws of the state of Texas, including those regarding alcoholic beverages, smoking, illegal drugs, and firearms, and all residents of the dormitories will agree to comply with these laws. St. MaryÕs University prohibits the use of alcohol, tobacco, and/or illegal drugs by any person residing in or otherwise present in the residence hall.
