Jonathan Hancock
Composer/Pianist Jonathan Hancock is a native of Texas who
first played piano for dance classes while attending UT in the early
1970’s. In 1976 he played for a
master class in Austin and shortly thereafter moved to NYC to accept an offer
of employment from the class’s teacher, Robert Joffrey.
He has played at many of the major companies’ professional
schools in the city and many independent schools and studios. He currently plays for classes at
Julliard, Barnard College, Montclair State University, Ballet Academy East and
Ballet Arts Studio. He has been
commissioned for original scores by The Joffrey, Joffrey II Dancers,
Contemporary Ballet, Boston Ballet, Marcus Schulkind Dance Company and American
Repertory Ballet.
Jonathan was on staff at the first Joffrey Workshop in San
Antonio in 1978, and is excited to be back this year.
