Composer/Pianist Jonathan Hancock is a native of Texas who first played piano for dance classes while attending UT in the early 1970’s.  In 1976 he played for a master class in Austin and shortly thereafter moved to NYC to accept an offer of employment from the class’s teacher, Robert Joffrey.

He has played at many of the major companies’ professional schools in the city and many independent schools and studios.  He currently plays for classes at Julliard, Barnard College, Montclair State University, Ballet Academy East and Ballet Arts Studio.  He has been commissioned for original scores by The Joffrey, Joffrey II Dancers, Contemporary Ballet, Boston Ballet, Marcus Schulkind Dance Company and American Repertory Ballet.

Jonathan was on staff at the first Joffrey Workshop in San Antonio in 1978, and is excited to be back this year.
