Brenda Serrato Tally
Brenda Tally holds a B.F.A. in Modern Dance from the University of Utah. Brenda began her early training with Debbe Busby in Victoria, Texas and continued to dance with Mrs. Busby as a member of Victoria Ballet Theatre from 1984 to 1993. While in high school she was chosen to attend summer intensive workshops at Houston Ballet Academy and The Joffrey Workshop in San Antonio, TX. At the University of Utah, Brenda was a member of the Performing Dance Company and spent a summer studying at Alvin Ailey American Dancenter in New York City, where she performed in a restaging of Paul Taylor’s “Esplanade”. In Utah, Brenda also performed at Robert Redford’s Sundance Theatre in their production of “West Side Story”. Brenda moved back to Victoria with her husband to pursue teaching and choreography serving with VBT as their resident choreographer as well as teaching modern and jazz at Busby Dancenter from 1999 through 2004. Mrs. Tally had the pleasure of co-coordinating VBT’s outreach program, Dance Education and Movement Initiative, as well as developing a dance class for special needs students at Busby Dancenter. Mrs. Tally has been acknowledged as a choreographer, twice receiving the Monticello Foundation Scholarship award for choreography from Regional Dance America for her work with the Victoria Ballet Theatre. Brenda is currently a first year graduate student pursuing an M.F.A. in dance performance at the University of Iowa, a recipient of the Dean’s Graduate Fellowship, and a member of Dancers in Company, the premiere touring group at the University. This summer Mrs. Tally can be seen performing with Duarte Dance Works in Iowa, as well as with Jennifer Kayle and Dancers at the Minneapolis Fringe Festival.
